Soapstone,beautiful deep gray with light veins, is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of mineral talc and is rich in magnesium. It is relatively soft which creates the feeling of soap when touched. It is non porous, stain resistant, and impervious to chemicals, acid and heat. Natural soapstone is gray in color but when treated with mineral oil, the surface will darken bringing out the stones natural beauty. Regular oiling of the surface makes scratches disappear and over time the need for oiling subsides. It is ideal for interior and exterior use including kitchen and bathroom counter tops, tub decks, fire place surrounds, bar tops and more.
