Soapstone, beautiful deep gray with light veins, is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of mineral talc and is rich in magnesium. It is relatively soft which creates the feeling of soap when touched. It is nonporous, stain resistant, and impervious to chemicals, acid and heat. Natural soapstone is gray in color but when treated with mineral oil, the surface will darken bringing out the stone's natural beauty. Regular oiling of the surface makes scratches disappear and over time the need for oiling subsides. It is ideal for interior use including kitchen and bathroom counter tops, tub decks, fireplace surrounds, bar tops and more.
